Welcoming players and characters from all aspects of Pern life, we are trying to encourage players to embrace characters that aren't only riders, but Wherhandlers, Dolphineers, Holdspeople and Crafters too!
Set in a Post-AIVAS Canon Pern, we have tried to remain as true to the books as possible, barring the changes another Interval would take on the people and society.
Short History
A bereft Weyrleader. A dead Queen and a violently destroyed clutch. Dead dragons and riders mourned with daily keening as new names join the rosters of those who have taken the trip between. These are the unfortunate times in which Cerulean Weyr is set and in which they are forced to rebuild.
After a mysterious disease forced the abandonment of the ravished Silver Cove Weyr, Cerulean Weyr was founded. Located off the far eastern coast of the Southern Continent, Crystal Cave Island held the perfect location for the newest and smallest Weyr. As the Red Star circles around for its 10th Pass, the Dragonriders of Cerulean Weyr struggle to form a new home and rebuild the population of the Weyr before they are overwhelmed by the inexorable progression of Thread.
Despite great tragedy, hope has not deserted them. A transfer queen has finally given the Weyr a chance to begin regrowing its population, with the additional assistance of a small donated clutch from Southern Weyr. All the other Weyrs of Pern have been very sympathetic to the blow delivered by a freak chance of nature, and their dragons felt the deaths all too keenly. Riders from around Pern have come to help bolster numbers and aid in Search for more candidates. The successful hatching was just what the Weyr and its people could use to help them feel positive for their future. As if to emphasize the turning of time, the surviving Weyrlings are growing well, and they hope to join the wings within the next several months, however a new unknown threat haunts the jungles of Crystal Cave Island, giving the entire Weyr pause for worry.
Weyr News
Tragedy has struck an already recovering Weyr.
During Trith’s maiden Flight at Cerulean, she was forcibly caught by an unknown bronze, who injured her and left when all was said and done, leaving Cerulean without a Weyrleader. Shaken, the Weyr held hopes of a good clutch despite the event that led up to it, and Cerulean was blessed with twenty three fine, healthy looking eggs to bolster their spirits. The pinnacle of the clutching was the promise of a gold queen though, Cerulean’s first born, and girls were lining up to have a chance at impressing her.
However, the bronze has returned, leading a full wing of dragons with the intent of stealing the eggs for Silver Cove, a name plucked squarely out of Cerulean’s past. After first drawing dragons from the sands during the Touching with dangerous diversions set all over the Weyr, they attacked and stole three of the eggs, destroying another three before a full wing of saviors appeared out of between and assisted in routing them.
The dragons and riders who assisted Cerulean waited only until the Silver Cove dragons cleared the skies before they again blinked between, leaving a mystery behind as to who they were.
Samhara, Weyrwoman of Cerulean, was struck and fell near the end of the attack, leaving a bereaved Trith alone to care for her clutch before the great queen joins her bonded. Now, counting their losses, healing the injured and mourning the passing of a good leader and good friend, Cerulean has successfully hatched the unlucky clutch and watched as golden Trith left this world to join her bonded between. What will become of these hatchlings, fought for and saved, with many painted in blood? Will they end up as twisted as their sire?
A look at the Future
- With the death of many, namely the Weyrwoman and the Weyrling Master, Cerulean is in need of solid riders to help with restoring what was lost.
- Because the Silver Cove bronze was skilled in Telekinetic manipulation, classes will be held for any who wish to learn in attempts to further guard against this malevolent force.
- The first Gather for Cerulean is only days away, and those who have the skills to are encouraged to set up booths.
We are looking for:
-Dragons and riders interested in furthering their telekinetic skills to protect the Weyr.
-Wherhandlers. The Nightwatch is in desperate need for more Wherhandlers and their draconic companions to man the night watch against feline invaders.
-Bronzeriders are needed to assist in leading the Weyr to recovery.
-Wingleaders, Wingseconds, Wingriders and Searchriders.
-Crafters to help with furnishing the Weyr and building more accommodations.
-Dolphineers to keep an eye on the east coast and any possible hurricanes.
-The healing wing is in sore need of several more able hands to deal with injuries, whether trained or not. Every volunteer is welcome.
Unique to Cerulean
- Encouragement and newly introduced system for using Telekinetic abilities in dragons and whers.
- Dolphins as playable characters.
