Note that the information within this thread can often change and should always be checked over before you make any character.
Available Character Options
Since we’re just starting out, I’m going to be a little more lenient when it comes to the character restrictions of the Site Ranks. Even at Weyrbrat level, you can make almost any color rider for a short period of time (no Golds or Greys) and it is very much first come first served, but if you make a Bronzerider or a Blackrider as your first and only character as a Weyrbrat you give up the rights to decide what happens to that character if you ever become inactive (I will either keep them around until I figure out a good way to kill them off or I will place them up for adoption as I see fit).
As of right now, 3 adult Bronzeriders (1 Bronze clutched from Orlaith [6 Turns old] and 1 Bronze clutched from Iroth [3 Turns old]) and 3 adult Blackriders (1 Black clutched from Orlaith [2 Turns old] and 1 Black clutched from Iroth [2 Turns old]) are open for creation. Adult Brownriders and Burgundyriders can also be freely made for a while.
1 Bronze Wherhandler, 1 Black Wherhandler, 2 Brown Wherhandlers, 2 Burgundy Wherhandlers, 4 Blue Wherhandlers, and 7 Green Wherhandlers are available for creation on a first come first served basis. Once they have all been taken Whers will only be available through Hatchings. Anyone who makes a Wherhandler to fill these positions will forfeit their right to decide what happens to that character should they become inactive or leave the site.
Candidates and Searchables (characters you want to be Searched and then become a Candidate rather than just starting as one) are always welcome and are not likely to ever be banned. Greenriders are also not likely to be banned, and Blueriders unlikely. Random holders, weyrfolk, and crafters(apprentices and journeymen) will also rarely ever be denied.
Physical and Mental Restrictions If you want your character to Stand for Impression, they cannot be deaf, blind, paralyzed, etc. Candidates must be whole and healthy in body and mind.
Tattoos and piercings (other than ears) will not be allowed. The risk of infection on Pern that comes with piercings or repeatedly sticking yourself with a needle is too great for anyone to even really think of doing it. Ear piercings are mainly for females and few males can get away with it without being ridiculed.
Unnatural hair colors (blue, green, purple, pink, etc.) will not be allowed. There is no way on Pern so far to successfully and safely dye ones hair.
If your character has training in hand to hand combat or with a weapon mentioned in their history and they are not a dragonrider, part of a Lord Holder's family, or trained as a Guard for a Lord Holder's family you may be asked to remove it as being trained and proficient with disciplined fighting techniques is a rare event unless you are one of the aforementioned. If you can come up with a good, detailed history about why they were trained to fight without being one of those three options it may be considered, but it is unlikely.
The average look on Pern is dark hair (black/brown) and dark eyes (brown). As a weyrbrat you are expected to have an 'average' looking character in these respects. Once you become a Candidate you will be allowed to make more 'unique' looking characters, but dark hair and dark eyes should still be the most common features. Red hair should be very rare, even rarer on Pern than it is on Earth.
Firelizards A limited number of Firelizards will be allowed at the start, and then all Firelizards will need to be acquired through Hatchings. You may have one character start with one firelizard of a lower color or wait until you reach Candidate Rank to have a character start with a higher color firelizard. These are the colors that are still available at this time:
3 Burgundies 5 Blues 7 Greens
*Those marked with an asterisk are only for those of Candidate Rank or above.
