Mina leaned up against the tree and looked at the Lake. It was defiantly gorgeous and of course very quiet out here. Besides the slight breeze the only thing Mina could hear is Tranic’s constint chatter. ”Would you like a bath, is that what’s bothering you?” She asked the black who was flying above Mina in circles. The chirping stopped as if the black was debating what it wanted, but instead of a bath he landed in Mina’s lap for attention.
Mina laughed slightly. She scratched Tranic in his favorite spot as she closed her eyes to think. She couldn’t help and let her thoughts wonder to where her father could be. She felt a hole in her heart from not knowing. Her only clue was to find her brother which would be hard especially since she didn’t even know his name. All she knew was that he was a rider and much older then her. Shaking her head she sighed and tried to imagine what he might look like.
Opening up her light brown eyes she ran a hand through her long curly black hair. She was often considered gorgeous but she never took any interest in any sort of relationship. She had her goals that she needed to complete before even thinking about any of that. Yet Mina was use to being a loner and perhaps she would be one for the rest of her life with of course Tranic on her shoulder.

I want to see the water! Mine, mine, F'ynn! Can we go see the water? Pleasepleaseplease? Dradeth bounded around F'ynn like a puppy. Oh please oh please, it won't take long, I promise!
F'ynn scratched his head. "Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to go see the lake for a little bit. It's a little cold though, and we have lessons probably, so we shouldn't take too long, all right?"
Yaaaay! The brown bounced away out of the weyrling barracks, barely waiting for F'ynn to catch up with his jacket and scarf. Dradeth had been very interested in the lake since he'd spotted it not long ago. He was fascinated by a body of water big enough to splash around in - the possibility for pranks was so much better than a measly bucket of water. With F'ynn strolling along behind him, Dradeth pranced right up to the edge of the lake and stuck his snout out to sniff it. Of course, water went up his nose, and Dradeth fell back with a snort.
Catching up to his brown, F'ynn patted him reassuringly on the head. "You know you can't breath it up, Dradeth, I told you that the last three times." He chuckled, then glanced around. The day was crisp and beautiful, bright-edged and shiny like purest glass. For a moment F'ynn's mind wandered, but he was brought sharply back to the present when Dradeth headbutted him in the leg.
F'ynn! F'ynn! Can I go swimming, F'ynn, pleasepleaseplease? Oh look, is that a girl? She's got a firelizard, can I go play with it?! PLEASE?
F'ynn blinked as Dradeth chattered on. A girl with a firelizard? How had he not... ah, over there under a tree. "I don't know, Dradeth, you're awfully big to play with a firelizard. I don't want you to hurt him by accident. Besides," he added, "she might be busy."
Aww, F'ynn, I won't hurt him! Promise! I'll be reallyreallyreally careful! Pleeease? And I'm sure the girl over there won't mind at all! Look, she's so nice, I can tell already! Come on, F'ynn! Without waiting for an answer, Dradeth abandoned his spot at the edge of the water and bounced over to the girl. Hihihi, he chattered to the firelizard. Do you want to play with me? I'll be gentle, I promised F'ynn I would so don't worry! F'ynn, ask him to play with me!
F'ynn shrugged and made his way after his dragon. "Hi there!" he called to the girl. "Dradeth just wanted to play with your firelizard. Is that all right? I can call him off if your lizard's not playful or anything." He stopped in front of the girl. Though now that he was closer he could see that she wasn't a girl at all, she had to be older than he was by a couple of years. Young woman then.

Mina sighed slightly as Tranic started to move once more, he sent a mental image of a dragonet and a boy which made no sense to Mina. Bringing her thoughts to an end she opened her eyes and looked at her little black. ”You just always have to mess with my thoughts.” She said with a laugh. Looking around she finally understood what Tranic was trying to tell her, she saw a boy with a newly hatched Brown.
With a sigh Mina couldn’t help but wonder what it meant to be a dragonrider. It was all she really ever dreamed of besides finding her brother to understand why her father disappeared. She watched the Brown as he pranced around the edge of the water which made her smile slightly.
Tranic started chirping as the Brown began heading their way. When the brown was close Tranic stepped off Mina’s lap and walked around the Brown as if to survey him. Mina laughed at her firelizard’s behavior. It was very entertaining to see a small little lizard walking around a Dragon instead of flying.
As if he had decided the dragon was okay he took to the air and landed on the Brown’s head while bending him neck down to look at the Brown’s eyes. ”Tranic!” Mina slightly said in shock. She shook her head knowing there was really nothing she could do to control her little Black who had decided to survey the Brown some more.
Mina’s eyes wandered to the boy who walked up, he was obviously a few turns younger then her but there was nothing wrong with her getting to know someone who knew the Weyr. “Hello.” Mina responded then listened to him talk. She thought her words careful then with a shrug she replied, “Well it’s up to Tranic. He’s usually playful so I’m sure he won’t mind.” At her words Tranic poked his nose on the Brown’s nose as if to say ’tag you’re it’ before flying off. He flew low to the ground to give the little dragon a fair advantage.
Mina laughed and shook her head, ”Well looks like he wants to play. I’m Mina by the way and the Black over there is Tranic. Just arrived here from Benden Weyr.” She said with a nod.

When the firelizard approached him on foot, Dradeth pranced in place much like an excited canine puppy. F'ynn, F'ynn, F'ynn, does he want to play does he want to play? Then the 'lizard hopped up to land on his freckled head, and Dradeth froze in place. Eep! he squeaked. But before F'ynn could even formulate whether to reassure the dragon or not, Dradeth got over his momentary alarm and snuffled at the firelizard peering down at him. F'ynn, F'ynn, F'ynn, oh look F'ynn, he's looking at me!
F'ynn grinned at the excited squeal in his brown's voice. "He's a cute little guy. I just have a feline... well, Moggie has me, really," he amended, thinking of the cantankerous old feline who had somehow become his pet.
Dradeth squealed again happily when the black firelizard tagged his nose and flew off. He does want to play, F'ynn! He does he does! With that he bounded off after the low-flying firelizard.
Be careful you don't hurt him, F'ynn cautioned, still a little unsure of the mental communication he was capable of with Dradeth.
Of course F'ynn! I wouldn't hurt my new friend, my new Tranic tiny-cousin friend! If he was hurt I wouldn't be able to play with him anymore, I'll be careful! Dradeth reassured him distractedly.
F'ynn just shrugged and turned back to the woman. Mina? He'd have to try to remember that. Minaminamina. Mina the candidate with the black firelizard. Minaminamina, Dradeth chanted in the back of his mind with a draconic giggle. "I'm F'ynn, and the brown goof is Dradeth. I'm a bit new, too, I hadn't been here long before the hatching. I know my way around now, though, if you ever need help," he offered offhandedly. "Nervous yet? About Iroth's hatching? Not everyone Impresses, after all."
He hadn't personally been nervous - too busy soaking in all the sights and sounds of a weyr full of dragons to be worried beforehand, even if he was the kind of person to worry about the future. But, he did know that a lot of other candidates had been, some even to the point of tears sometimes. He blinked curiously at her, unaware that what he'd said was more likely to induce nervousness than not.

Tranic did a few spinning circles as if to look and see if the Brown was following him. Sure enough the Brown was bounding after him as happy as can be. Tranic chirped happily then picked up the pace, yet still stayed low. Perhaps he would wear out the little Brown? But then again who knew.
Mina laughed slightly, "I only have Tranic here. He's quite the character himself." She shrugged slightly, "I often have to chase him down to get some object that belongs to someone else. He's horrible since he loves shiny objects. Has a whole collection too." She added with a slight shake to her head. Mina moved some hair out of her face and watched the two play.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, F'ynn." She said with a smile then shook her head slightly, "Of course I am not nervous. My father was a rider before me and I guess my half brother impressed well as well. I just don't know who he is. That's my plan though, impress a dragon and then perhaps find my brother." She said as she began to ramble off slightly.
Mina already tried to picture what her brother may look like, but all she could picture was a younger looking father. She sighed slightly and shook her head once more "I figured after finding my brother, perhaps I would be able to know where my father had disappeared too." She added with slight sadness in her voice. Her father was everything to her, that was why Tranic meant so much. Tranic was a gift from her father after all.

"Your father disappeared?" he asked with some surprise. "Like just gone, without telling his Weyr where he went?" He couldn't imagine his father disappearing like that, just into thin air. Then again, his father didn't have a dragon who could carry him where ever he wanted to go. And as much as he was fond of his father, F'ynn wasn't really sure that he himself would have gone to any real lengths to find him again, like this woman was.
"Huh. Well, even if your brother doesn't know where he is, I guess it would be fun to get to know him and stuff, you both being dragonriders." After his initial doubting words about Impression, F'ynn had just accepted her confidence in Impressing as his own.
He watched a moment as Dradeth bounced along after the low-flying black firelizard. He was puzzled by the note of sadness in Mina's voice. Not that he hadn't been sad himself. But if you can't do something to fix a sad thing right then, and you had such a funny, adorable sight right in front of you like the dragonet playing tag with the firelizard, how could you be sad? Sad was the color gone from everything - he much preferred laughter. But how to cheer her up? Maybe he'd make her something later. Maybe a little glass dragon, just clear glass to represent her many possibilities...
"Do you like art?" he blurted out, mind still full of plans for what he would make for her to cheer her up.
