Due to a strange epidemic at the end of the 9th Pass, there are three new colors of dragon, wher, and firelizard. After the 200 Turn Interval most of Pern is used to these new colors and they have fixed themselves in their place in the color hierarchy: Greys, Blacks, and Burgundies. Also due to the epidemic, Whites have become more common. In the 10th Pass every Weyr generally has one or two Whiteriders.
After the epidemic and the new colors were studied, a decision was reached to settle the Far Western Continent that sailors often spoke of. Benden, having the most Queens and therefore the ability to spare one, sent their youngest Queen, soon to rise, and her rider, along with enough volunteer riders to make up a wing, to found a new Weyr to be called Western Weyr. Ships with interested holders and crafters were sent after them and by the time they arrived a Weyrleader had been made, the young Gold had risen. Ten Turns have passed since the original settlers came to the Western Continent and all residents are doing fairly well so far. With the beginning of the next Pass imminent, who knows how long that will last.
Current Events At Western
-Our first Threadfall is underway, how will the untested Weyr fare?
-When we reach 20 members tryouts for another adult Greyrider pair will be considered.
-Our current Grey has risen and is heavy with eggs, it is expected she will soon clutch. The Searchriders are busy finding candidates for the upcoming hatching.
-A new Impressible creature has been discovered at another new Weyr, the creatures have been dubbed Gliders, and they have been found to be Impressible, though they're only recently discovered and rare at Western.
-A new species was also discovered on the Western Continent: Gemtails. They have been found to be Impressible and are on their way to becoming popular pets. A Gemtail clutch will soon be available for Impressing.
Currently Available At Western
-Three new colors:
- Greys are clutching females and Impress mostly to females with a chance to Impress homosexual males.
- Blacks are just under Bronzes and catch Golds almost as often, mostly Impressing to males but with a chance to Impress homosexual females.
- Burgundies are just under Browns and unlike other male dragons prefer to Impress females.
-For those who prefer Canon colors, your preference can be noted and you will never Impress to a nonCanon color.
-13 month old Weyrlings from Grey Iroth’s last clutch are available for adoption (1 Brown, 1 Burgundy, 1 Green).
-3 month old Weyrlings from Gold Orlaith's last clutch are available for adoption (1 Bronze, 2 Blacks, 2 Burgundies, 1 Blue, 2 Greens).
-Lord Holder of Western Hold is open for replacement (he is currently an NPC).
-Adult Grey Wherhandler Tryouts are being held.
-Open Applications for 2 Bronze and 2 Black Dragonriders on a first come, first served basis.
-Open Applications for 1 Bronze, 1 Black, 2 Brown, 2 Burgundy, and a number of Blue and Green Wherhandlers on a first come, first served basis.
-Other important Weyr positions currently occupied by NPCs are available as well.
-Candidates are always welcome, especially now that the Pass is going to begin and our two adult clutching females will be rising more often.
