Name: Eidan (E'an)
Age: 13
Gender: male
Sexual Orientation: unknown
Rank: candidate
Family: Erad (father, trader) Aniya (mother) four older brothers, three older sisters, three younger brothers, two younger sisters
Dragon:
Pets: Do they have any firelizards or other animals? List them here. (Even if you're not starting out with any, you might want to leave this here to add to later if you Impress firelizards later on.) Other allowed pets include Tunnelcats (similar to ferrets, and quite common as they hunt down tunnelsnakes), Canines (dogs are fairly common as working pets, ie guards, hunters, herders, etc.), and Runners (horses, these will only rarely be allowed as Runners are costly and most of the people of Pern can't really afford them). Pets other than Firelizards do not require their own bios to be filled out, instead a little summary of them can simply be included here. (Gemtails are not available as pets for those just starting out and must be gained through roleplay/special events.)
Appearance:
Eidan is small for his age, slenderly built but sturdy rather than delicate. His brown hair is more often than not bleached almost blonde by the sun he spends most of his time in, and his complexion is likewise sun-darkened. Dark brown eyes peer mischievously from beneath the shaggy fringe of his hair. He isn't the tidiest of children. In true boyish manner, he manages to get muddy or dusty even when he, as he puts it "weren't doing nothin'". He has little regard for his clothes, which often end the day stained and torn, but since he has been helping repair his own clothes since he was old enough to hold a needle they often find new life elsewhere in his bright, motley collection of clothes.
Basic Personality: Eidan is much like the Peter Pan of earth stories: he refuses to grow up. At the age most boys are trying to act like men, and are taking and being given responsibilities. Eidan prefers to just drift through life on a whim. Perfectly capable of taking care of himself but otherwise avoids things like chores and responsibility.
Strengths (at least 5, preferably more, do not simply list them, but add a little description/example to go along with it)
Faults (at least 5, preferably more, do not simply list them, but add a little description/example to go along with it)
History: Eidan grew up in a large family, part of a trader caravan made up of an even larger extended family. They were always living the gypsy life. Traveling from hold to hold, Weyr to of the southern continent, they lived a pretty carefree live under the jurisdiction of no master but the head of the trade caravan, Eidan's father.
Eidan was left to his own devices much of his childhood, occasionally being dragged back for the Harper's basic lessons and any extra classes his father deemed necessary for a future trader - one of his older sisters had gone off to the Healer hall for training but otherwise everyone had stuck around with the caravan so it was assumed Eidan would too. When he wasn't in lessons Eidan spent his time racing his runner against the cousins or boys at the holds, or playing games, or gambling with the older boys.
When he was nine, Eidan was tasked with watching his younger sister, just a toddler. While he was distracted, she fell into the river and would have drown if one of his uncles hadn't seen the incident and dove in after her. Eidan was devastated that he'd almost gotten his sister killed, and his behavior became more and more erratic, and he would never be found when chores and responsibilities were handed out to the children for the day. He got a reputation for being a lazy good-for-nothing and there was talk about sending him off to apprentice to one of the crafts instead of feeding and extra kid who didn't pull his own weight.
At thirteen, Eidan got sick, too sick for the meager first aid skills of the traders to heal. The took a detour to a small hold nearby but they didn't have a healer stationed there. While his parents debated what to do, a search rider from western came to the small hold. Much to his parents' bemusement, the dragon pointed out Eidan as a potential candidate. After some discussion, the rider agreed to take Eidan to Western for healing and the chance to stand at orlaith's hatching though he was younger than they usually took kids. he wasn't better in time to stand at that hatching, but now that Iroth is going to clutch, Eidan is determined to stand at it just to say he did.

Strengths (at least 5, preferably more, do not simply list them, but add a little description/example to go along with it)
- playful - always quick to join in on any game, whether it be with younger kids or with older
- friendly - never hesitates to talk to someone no matter who they are or their rank
- curious - always questioning, always eager to learn something new, though he usually gets bored of it pretty quickly
- self-sufficient - from a young age he was taught to do anything, from cooking to cleaning to mending clothes, that he would need to take care of himself. With such a large family, it was all about fending for yourself.
- clever - though not particularly book smart, he nevertheless has an innate problem solving skill and enjoys solving puzzles and more practical problems, though at his age his advice is rarely, if ever, taken
Faults (at least 5, preferably more, do not simply list them, but add a little description/example to go along with it)
- irresponsible - he is only being allowed to stand with reservations, if they weren't so in need of candidates he probably would never have been even considered
- self-centered - growing up with so many other people he learned that if you aren't in it for yourself you aren't ever going to get what you want. As such he has developed the bad habit of putting his own needs over those of others.
- accomplished liar - though something he's good at, it isn't something acceptable to others. Eidan has a skill for lying and is adept at hiding his other faults behind a screen of such lies. He is rarely caught out, though partially that is because of his innocent appearance.
- insecure - his lack of confidence in his position and abilities is much of the reason he acts out and refuses to take responsibility for others. He hides this behind a mask of bravado and aggressive cheerfulness but he's always expecting what he has to be taken away - that's why he acts like he doesn't care.
- lonely - whether it's true or not, Eidan feels like there is no one else who actually cares about him or understands him. Because of this he's often moody and depressed when alone, and occasionally he takes it out on other people with unexpectedly snappish behavior. Mostly he is good at keeping it hidden.
