A'dros had been looking for his fire lizard Iggy all day and had checked all of the usual spots including the lower caverns. He had asked everyone and no one had seen him till finally a weyrbrate gave him a clothe. The child had said that he'd seen a brown fire lizard laying limply down at the lake and A'dros had rushed down there. While many others enjoyed the lake and came to swim A'dros didn't come down unless Eriath wanted to swim. A few steps away from the lake he saw the fire lizard and ran over to him carefully picking him up. Iggy had been with him longer then Eriath and held a special spot in the black rider's heart.
"Iggy, what happened," asked A'dros as he saw there we're bruises and a gash on the left wing yet mostly the fire lizard just looked like he got beat up? A'dros was sent pictures of a bronze fire lizard group that had beaten up his brown after he had tried to chase a green fire lizard. "Oh, Iggy I'm sorry," said A'dros as he tore off part of his shirt and put it against the wing then started to walk back to get some help. He had tried to protect the brown fire lizard who liked to go after every female fire lizard and sometimes that didn't happen. "You shouldn't go after them when the black or bronzes are out," said A'dros not really noticing anyone else around.
It was a hard place to get used to even after a year and had yet to find a place where even he belonged. He felt even in the wing that outside riders we're not easily accepted and sighed while carrying his friend to get help.

Pala had come outside for some fresh air, something Kumath insisted that she needed. She was fairly certain the Burgundy just wanted to nap in the sun. The air was still chilly and Pala pulled her jacket closer around her as Kumath walked beside her, quite happy with himself.
Too busy watching the ground under her feet, lest it moved out from under her, Pala didn't notice the rider approaching with the injured firelizard. Fortunately, Kumath did.
Mine, what is wrong with that small brown one? Kumath nudged her leg gently.
Pala stopped and saw A'dros walking their way. At first she still didn't see what Kumath meant, but then she saw the brown firelizard in his arms and the makeshift bandage applied to his wing. Her Healer instincts took over and she ran over to the man, "Is he okay? Let me see, maybe I can do something..."
Tell him you're a Healer, you always leave out the important details. Kumath looked up at the rider as he approached at a more reserved pace.
"Oh yes, I'm a Healer... well rider now, but I was a Healer before I came here... Actually that's how I got here in the first place..."

"I dont't know," asked A'dros as he looked at her then sighed as the brown lizard seemed to just lay there in his hands and tears started to come out of his eyes. "Please help me," said A'dros as he looked at her wanting some help for his poor lizard that seemed to be dyning. A'dros was really attached to fire lizard and just looked at the woman that seemed to want to help. The two of them had been through more then anyone could count and wanted to get the brown a mate. He was always trying to mate with other fire lizards and had hoped to impress a female lizard at least a green for him. "His my friend," said A'dros as he let tears keep flowing and even a tough black rider could be attached.
His father had been a little apprehensive about the fire lizard and only wanted his son around the dragons. A'dros valued fire lizards and dragons because they we're a part of him. "He was trying to mate with a green and got beaten up by bronzes," said A'dros as he was happy that his dragon was a black instead of a lesser color. The black dragon could withstand the other lesser colors and even take on a bronze in a mating flight unlike the poor brown.

Pala didn't lift the cloth to look at the wing, if he was holding it there then moving it would only do more harm than good until they got the tiny thing to the infirmary. What concerned her more... were the bruises. People tended to underestimate bruises but so many were a sign of possible internal bleeding and damage. Something he would have to pull through mostly on his own, "Come on, please don't cry, it will distress him." It sounded cold, especially for Pala, but this was work now and work dictated that the man needed to stop crying.
She lead him towards the Weyr with Kumath following behind the two. While firelizards weren't her forte, Pala had studied a wider variety of specialties instead of settling on one and had treated more than a few firelizards before at Fort. It wasn't difficult for such small things to get into such a large amount of trouble.
When they reached the opening she lead him to a treatment area. Despite the brown's probably complex injuries the treatments could only be simple as there was little to be done about the internal injuries except hope.
She motioned for the rider to sit on the table, "Hold his wing out a bit but keep it covered okay?" Pala turned to start pulling out supplies.

The brown dragon Iggy was very irritable and cried in anger as the wing was held out with the cloth kept on it. A'dros sat down on the stool as he looked at her and vowed to thank you when this was over. Iggy had eyes of red that showed anger as having the wing moved and the blood continued to gather on the cloth. "I've had him for fifteen years," said A'dros as he marveled at how the little brown was all that he had and decided that was nothing better then having a friend. He loved the black dragon yet his little lizard had started the fascination with the bigger dragons. While he said, "Iggy quiet," then though of how nice it would be to get him a mate one that could be with him.
A'dros hadn't thought of getting of getting a new fire lizard yet maybe this was the perfect time and had to smile at the idea. He already had an idea what would be perfect a little grey that would have sliver coloring. The little grey eggs we're hard to come by and maybe the grey fire lizard around here would hopefully be mating soon. "He's one of my best friends," said A'dros sounding more like a ten year old boy instead of a twenty five year old dragon rider.

((sorry, I thought I replied to this yesterday, must have hit preview instead of post or something))
Pala looked down at the firelizard and tried to smile reassuringly, "I'm sorry I'm sure it hurts very much but if you're going to chase after any of those pretty greens again it's necessary." To A'dros she nodded, "I don't have anyone other than Kumath there, she nodded to the still very young Burgundy who had gone over to settle down out of the way, "But I've taken care of a few firelizards at Fort. Midnael has Finiky, and A'der has Alyzin, and I spend time with both of them. "
She soaked a cloth in some rinse, barely wringing it out before squeezing it over the cloth on the wing, "It should help with the pain, clean it, slow the bleeding, and help me do this..." very carefully she removed the bit of shirt there, the rinse having moistened it enough to allow her to remove it without any dried ichor sticking.
Kumath watched quietly from his corner as Pala set the old cloth to the side and inspected the damage quickly before laying the new cloth on it, "I should be able to fix it, he won't be able to fly for a while, and even after he can he really shouldn't do more than stretch the wing." She inspected the bruises, they didn't look too serious, definitely not a mild beating but not enough blood for serious organ damage. She breathed a sigh of relief and applied a salve there for the pain, "There that should at least feel better now, she looked up at A'dros again, "I need to let the medicine soak in to his wing before I work on it. Relax okay? He'll be fine."

A'dros watched her for a moment and listened to the explanation of his little fire lizard. He loved Iggy more then anything except for his black dragon and sighed as the little brown fire lizard moaned in pain. The young fire lizard finally settled down and sent A'dros picture of sunsets. "Thank you it's just we've been together forever," said A'dros counting Iggy as much as family. The salve had to dry well that was going to take a little while and turned to look at the burgundy fire lizard. "You know your little one is very sweet," said A'dros admiring the little burgundy fire lizard. "How many do you have I've only got the one fire lizard," said A'dros as he realized that he didn't have a lot of them.
He had meet some of them at his first weyr that had four of them and sighed that would have been too many pets wanting his attention. A'dros knew that the fire lizards we're rare and that it took a lot do get one. The only reason that he got one was happening upon one on a deserted beach and the rest of the eggs had been killed. "I'm so sorry this happened to you Iggy," said A'dros as he petted the little fire lizard not really wanting anything around his little friend.
