Don't go too deep, Wy'ren sent, as he lay all of his riding straps on a blanket he had brought from his weyr. His weyr . . . That thought made him chuckle, or was it Imp scurrying up his breeches leg and clapping his claws on his waist band, pinning him with his beady black eyes. "What?" he questioned, already reaching for the Tunnelcat and placing him on his shoulder, where the Tunnelcat liked to be.
Do you have a problem with how deep I swim? Wy'ren heard in the back of his mind, causing him to turn and look out over the water. Sure enough, he found Schwarzth bobbing out in deeper water. I have a problem with the fact that your still young and our swimming lessons were only Four months ago. I know how to swim . . . Trust me, Schwarzth interrupted. Of course, Wy'ren could only run his hand over Imp's soft fur and watch as his dragon suddenly dived under the water. I do trust you. With my life, he sent out, loving the rumbling purr that greeted him in response.
Seeing Schwarzth return in another part of the lake, Wy'ren returned to the blanket of riding straps he had lain out. Their straps lesson had been a tough, but easy one. He had taken to fixing the straps easily, but it was the putting them on the dragon that bothered him. So many small straps, that didn't even look like they would fit on the Black. He sighed, crossing his left leg over his right and slowly lowering himself to the ground. There was an oiling jar not far away from him and Imp seemed to go right for it. "No," Wy'ren said sternly, placing his hand on the Tunnelcat's back, easing him away from the oiling jar.
With that, Imp turned and hopped away from him, probably going to look for something shiny, Schwarzth was in the lake, and he picked up a piece of riding strap and the oil jar. That being done, he began working his way through all the riding straps, picking up one, oiling it, laying it back down where he got it, then moving on to another strap.

The holderbred candidate was on the move again! Brete decided that today would be the day she checked out the Weyr Bowl. There were usually dragons and riders down there and it would be a good chance to see a dragon close up. Other than the one who had searched her she hadn't really had a chance to see many. It was quickly become a desire she had to do something about, so before she became too antsy she decided to nip the urge in the bud and get down there. Walking around she knew to stay away from feeding dragons Filonna had warned her of the danger, so she headed for the lake instead. From a distance she thought she saw a dragon dive beneath the water. She just hoped approaching one wouldn't make it angry.
Getting close enough she caught a glimpse of a young man who must be around her age. Which made her wonder when he had impressed, and to be truthful a bit of jealousy at his luck. Trying not to be to awkward she approached with her typical confidence. The kind that is strong but not cocky, bespeaking a woman confident in her own abilities. "Hello there, it's a fine day isn't it? I thought it was a good day to get out and see the weyr bowl...and seeing as I was warned against approaching feeding dragons I thought this the next best option." There was no doubt that the man was handsome, it seemed to be a disease the weyr possessed, but Brete wasn't one to swoon over this fact. Smiling softly at him, minus the seduction she'd seen other girls use, she pointed at the lake.
"Was that a dragon I saw dive? I'm terribly lacking in any real view of the beauties. Considering I'm a candidate I think that I am lacking something everyone else seems to have. Is it true that they talk to some people who aren't riders as well? I know that sounds silly but at the Harper hall I've never heard of anyone except the master harper speaking with one." She knew she probably sounded like an eager child but her enthusiasm was getting the better of her once again. It was like being in a toy crafters work shop, everything so amazing you just had to touch it.
Swinging her long dark hair out of her face, something that annoyed the girl, she looked at what the man was doing. Those were riding leathers and he was oiling them. She had been tasked with helping on some of these recently so she sat down and offered to help. It must be hard on a dragon rider to do all of that and take care of a dragon.
"Would you like some help? They've had me at this for a week now so I could do some of the straps if you like." Stopping for a second she realized she had just bowled over the poor man and that was rude.
"I'm so sorry, please forgive me. I seem to get over excited these days and just say everything quicker than a hatching dragon. My name is Bretella but please call me Brete. I'm a new candidate and I would love the honor of helping you if you wouldn't mind." With that she looked at him with big brown eyes that seemed to say how much it truly would honor her.

As he was picking up a rather long strap and laying it across his lap, a sudden voice caused him to glance up and found a female almost on top of him. She spoke quickly, so fast, in fact, that he didn't really have time to speak between everything she was saying.
The young woman started with a simple greeting, explaining that she had been told that disturbing a feasting dragon was a bad idea and all he could do was nod, lifting his hand and wiping it on his breeches leg, before lifting it to his brow to block the sunlight from his eyes. Next she jumped to Schwarzth diving into the water and again, all he could do was nod.
Who is it, Mine? he heard from the back of his mind. He truly expected Schwarzth to speak up sooner, but he was glad the Black had waited, as it would have been tough for him to listen to the girl and his dragon at the same time. He was still learning this mental talking thing. It seems to be a very energetic Candidate . . . Why don't you come up . . . I believe she wishes to gaze upon you. Who wouldn't?
he heard, which caused him to grin, glancing over his shoulder. "He is my Black Schwarzth . . . I am Wy'ren. It is nice to meet you, . . . Brete," he stated, turning back to the girl, finding her sitting near him, ready to help him with his riding straps. He shook his head and nodded over his shoulder. "Schwarzth comes first . . . He will be offended if you don't preen over him," he stated, hearing the water rush from around his Black as the dragon stepped onto land.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Brete knew she had bowled over the male but she had to get it all out quickly before her nerve had given out as well. She didn't know what was considered rude here or thought to be something you just didn't do. She knew she probably looked a bit crazy or over enthusiastic, which was normally a trait she didn't show to others but there was no way to remedy that right now. Tucking her long dark hair behind her ear she stood up again and watched the dragon approach from the water. Twisting her hands together nervously, did one bow to a black as well as the queen? To be safe she was going to anyways to show her respect and admiration. A light wind blew up and thrust her straight locks forward causing Brete to untangle her hands and smooth it back out of her face to see. The darn stuff was so long she was lost as to what she could do with it at times.
"I'm very honored that you would allow me to see your bonded so close up Dragonrider Wy'ren. I'm sorry I bombarded you so. I was quite nervous you see. The only other dragon rider I've had much of a conversation with so far was a bit....stand offish about the subject. Though he was a black rider as well I'm starting to think black riders are the easiest to talk to or most willing." she smiled her soft nervous small as she looked at him again. She knew she was an odd creature for a weyr person so she decided it was time to go with what she had. "Being a harper born brat this is all a new experience for me. So forgive me if I do something rude unwittingly...and please feel free to tell me if I step out of line." the young woman looked down at him with big brown eyes that carried much seriousness and genuine hope.
Turning back to the emerging black she took a deep breath. She wondered if this dragon would talk to her like Rayth had. That had been the single most amazing experience she had had yet and this looked to top it for pure fact of visual closeness. Though she was still looking forward to seeing Rayth up close. He was such a lovely talking dragon that she was sure he would be very lovely in person, physical difference and all.

As Brete continued to speak, Wy'ren began to lift his hand to stop her from speaking but at the moment he went to raise his hand, Imp shoot out of his cover and went toward the Candidate. With a quick movement of his hand, he grabbed the tunnelcat up and held onto him, even as he chittered and scratched at him. "I don't know what your planning, but no," he stated, placing to tunnelcat on the opposite side from Brete.
"I'm not a Rider . . . just a Weyrling at the moment," he stated, staying seated as Schwarzth came fully out of the water and stood on the shore, actually allowing the female to look upon him. Thank you, my sweet, he offered the young Black. Tell this one that she is more than welcome to explore me. . . . She is young and seems to want to learn about dragons. I am more than willing to help her,
Schwarzth stated, snapping open his wings, sprinkling water down upon Brete. "Well, I see you have met Weyrling Wy'ren and his Black Schwarzth," Filonna stated, coming upon the Black Weyrling and Brete. She had had to go speak with the Candidate Master, leaving Brete to herself for a little while. And she was glad that the girl hadn't gone far from where they had left each other. She had grown fond of the girl in just the short amount of time they had met and it would have been a shame to lose a friend so quickly.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Seeing the tunnel cat come sprinting towards her Brete made an O face and smiled. He was a lovely tunnel cat wasn't he? She hadn't had much exposure to them yet so she was of course curious about him as well. When Wy'ren caught it up and basically told it no she was curious as to why. The animal did have claws and such but it didn't look like it wanted to hurt her persay...more like it wanted to explore her. She wasn't sure though since you could never tell with animals. "That's a lovely tunnel cat you have...though I think he is a bit aggitated." she laughed as her old self was restored. The animal shocked her into a less obnixous curious creature.
"Ah a weyrling, so your dragon is not full grown yet. How fascinating....that would make you the first weryling I've seen as of yet. Though looking at your dragon it's hard for me to imagine him getting bigger, he is already big in my opinion." she smiled as the dagon fully emerged from the water. Yes he was a large creature. Dragons were huge and Brete was going to have to get used to that. "You're going to grow up to be a fine looking dragon aren't you? I think the bronzes will have to watch out for you." she said sweetly. She would love to look him over but that might be rude and she was not about to offend a dragon.
Just then she heard Filonna and looked up like a cat caught with a mouse. Smiling sheepishly she stood. "I see you have found me...I think I've sort of intruded on Wy'ren here. I was just so excited to see a dragon like that ...well you know how I am Filonna...I charged in and blabbered at him."
