History:
Silthea’s mother died when she was very young, but her father swears that she inherited her voice. From an early age, he tried to instill in her the desire to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a harper – but Silthea would have none of that. She spent most of her youth outside exploring with her brother Thearan. It wasn’t until she was about 10 turns or so that she took an interest in anything substantial – cooking – but unfortunately, as hard as she tried, she lacked the skills necessary to prepare anything delectable (or even palatable).
When Thearan left home to become a dragonrider, Silthea found herself feeling alone for the first time in her life. For awhile, she continued exploring on her own, but the adventuring soon lost its luster. She began staying at home more, doting on her father.
Shortly after her 18th turn, a dragonrider confronted her and told her she could be a rider, if she so desired. Ecstatic, she accepted and made the arrangements to leave home and head to the weyr. Though her father was distraught that he’d be alone, he was proud that both of his children were to one day be riders.
Once she arrived at the weyr, she spent much of her time in the kitchen. She wasn’t left to her own devices long, though, before the cooks realized she was better off ‘helping’ them by fetching ingredients.
