Name: Pala (PA-lA)
Age: 19 turns
Gender: Female
Sexual Orientation: Undecided, she hasn’t really thought about it or cared enough to think about it. The extent of her relationships have been dances with men and women both at a gather.
Rank: Journeywoman healer
Family: Father: Panlar(47) Mother: Lanis (45) Sister: Laura (14)
Dragon: Burgundy Kumath
Pets:
Appearance: Pala is my alter ego so she looks like me basically, but slightly younger. sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs293.snc3/28291_119473041414326_100000548933780_198219_8272317_n.jpg (yes I know the picture is at medieval times, I didn’t think one in jeans would fit as well.
Pala has thin light brown hair that she usually keeps pulled back or braided due to its tendency to tangle. Her skin is a lighter olive that darkens easily without burning but usually stays pale due to work keeping her indoors often. Her eyes are a very light amber brown that sometimes look hazel depending on what she is wearing or the lighting. She stands fairly tall for a girl at around 5’8”. She isn’t terribly skinny, but tends to look thinner than she really is due to her thin face shape. Dispite a rather tomboyish childhood she has managed to grow into a somewhat attractive and femine woman, even if she’s usually too busy with work to care about her appearance. She prefers pants and tunics that don’t get in the way of what she is doing, but will sometimes wear a comfortable dress instead. For gathers she gets dressed up like everyone else and is quite pretty when she does, even if she doesn’t realize it.

History:
Pala is from a family of beasthearders and runner breeders from a cothold south of Fort Hold. As a young child Pala was always underfoot, covered in mud and bruises from head to toe it was hard to tell that there was actually a little girl under all that muck. At age 5 her sister Laura was born and another trait was noticed in young Pala, the ability to care for others. From day one of her sister’s life Pala watched and protected her from anything and everything she could, if she was sick she was there to hold her as she cried, if she fell down Pala wrapped the injury and carried her home, and if any of their cousin’s picked on her Pala beat the snot out of them. At age 10, Pala’s parents decided that this obsession of hers was no longer healthy and sent her away to Fort Hold to stay with her mother’s sister Kisandra, who also happened to be a Journeywoman Healer.
At first Pala was furious at being separated from her sister, but within weeks the wonder of living in a Major hold kicked in and there was no stopping her. She watched everything she was allowed, constantly asking questions, always wanting to learn how and why things were done and never content with anything less. She assisted her Aunt and the Hold’s other healers daily, happily doing any task asked of her. At the age of 12 her Aunt wrote to her sister and told her that she wanted to send the child to the Healer Hall to study. The girl’s mother discussed it with the rest of the family, and it was agreed that this was the best course of action for Pala’s future.
Due to her desire to learn as much as she could, Pala never settled into one field of study at Healer Hall, but instead studied under a multitude of masters, occasionally going with one or another on journeys to assist areas in need. When she turned 19 turns she was allowed to walk the tables into Journeywoman rank and shortly after she was given an assignment of her own. Now, Pala finds herself wrapped in a cloak, staring at the fast approaching island that is Greater Western and hoping that she doesn’t mess this up.
If ever you become inactive without warning for a long period of time or decide to leave the site, what would you like me to do with your character?
Turn them into NPCs, I’d prefer for them not to be killed off but if I’m gone for too long I’d understand if they were
Note: Pala is being assigned to the Weyr as a healer, I'd like her to be a canidate at some point, but I'm a little old fashioned and would like to play her as a normal Pernese citizen before having her become an actual canidate. If need be she can be in this hatching, but since we're a little heavy on the female side at the moment I figure she can just be her happy little healer self for now. If desired I'd be more than happy to have her stand in as an extra candidate (someone who won't actually be accepted since there are usually far more candidates than dragons), she'd be perfectly happy being able to observe a hatching up close without actually being accepted.

Basic Personality:
Strengths
- When she wakes up in the morning it’s a new day and all but the most grievous of offenses are shrugged off. Any petty squabbles she might have had the day before are forgotten unless brought up by the other party.
- She has a natural knack for being a Healer, never shying away from even the most disgusting of conditions or the most difficult of tasks.
- When in her work mode (see below) she can keep going at an insane pace until she passes out from exhaustion. Anyone observing this would see that she looks almost possessed. (listed as both a strength and a fault due to the benefits and negatives of it)
- Even if she doesn’t yet consider you a friend, she is usually friendly, most of the time people can’t even tell if she actively dislikes them (although there aren’t many that she takes the time to really dislike, considering it a waste of time).
- She always wants to learn, even if it has nothing to do with her actual job. If she doesn’t know the answer to something, she looks it up or asks. This has lead her to have a lot of random information, she also is something of a jack of all trades, master of none sort of deal (her strength being healing of course).
- She usually thinks about things before acting on them, very rarely does she go into something without weighing every possibility in her head. This can also work to her disadvantage though.
- Caring, even if she doesn't like someone she will take care of them. If she does like someone this is even more the case.
Faults
- Pala has difficulty sitting still for too long. She tends to pace, figit, tap her foot, ect even when talking to someone or doing something else.
- She is very slow to trust, she couldn’t tell you why if asked, but will sometimes periodically test any friendships she develops just to be sure that she can trust them.
- She hates not knowing things that she feels are important (if someone is hurt for example), and if she can’t find the answer it will make her very irritable to the point of snapping at people who try to talk to her. This could very well show itself during threadfall.
- She has something that she calls a “work mode” during which she can keep going at an incredibly insane pace as long as she has something to do, but if her work mode is interrupted it’s very difficult for her to get back into it. She often doesn’t even realize when she’s in it and has to be pulled out for rest or food, she’s likely to be angry/frustrated with whomever interrupted it though. (listed as both a fault and a strength)
- She is very impatient, and it shows in her other faults, minutes seem like hours if something she’s waiting for something.
- Over-thinks things, her tendency to do this can often lead to her becoming worried about things that she should relax about. This doesn't seem to happen while working, but definitely afterward if she feels she did something wrong. This is also why she tends to test people as they get close to her.
- She often tries and fails to distance herself from patients or potential patients. She has been told on many occasions at the Healercraft Hall that she cares too much for patients and that it will eventually be her downfall. This does not work well with the fact that she beats herself up over the death of a patient and will tirelessly obsess over what she could have done differently to save them even if she wasn't close to them.
