She isn't going to throw a pot at you while you're on my head you silly thing. But you can only stay there as long as you don't cause trouble.
Pala laughed, "I wouldn't be so sure of that Kumath, she might want to throw a pot at you just for harboring him." Her tone suggested that she doubted it, but Kumath huffed anyway.
Better not. He let that be heard by the entire table.
He watched Imanith as she rambled mentally, She enjoys her work, but she also seems to hate it, it's very strange. If you manage to teach Menorath how to walk please assist me with Mine next, she's as bad as him and she's grown.
"I don't hate my work Kumath, I hate not being good enough at it. And I don't need a just out of the shell pair to teach me how to walk!"
If you say so, why don't you walk across the hall right now without tripping and prove it?
Pala scowled, biting into a fruit but saying nothing in response. She didn't seem to mind Zyika's lack of speech, she was used to people talking less than she did usually and A'der hadn't been so chatty when she had first met him either, "Well it's a pleasure to finally meet you Zyika, A'der speaks very fondly of you... but I guess you knew that already, you're his sister after all." She looked at A'der when he spoke, "Really? You never mentioned how I nearly lost a month's supply of herbs because I wasn't paying attention and almost ran into you?" She neglected to mention that she HAD managed to fall rather ungracefully in the process, she didn't need to add fuel to the fire as far as Kumath wanting her to take 'walking lessons' from a couple of hatchlings.
I like to sleep by the fire, tease Mine, and watching her trip. Actually I like watching things in general.

Zyika’s eyes flickered to the burgundy. “Burgundies must all be alike.” She said smoothly. A’der nudged his sister, “Kumath wouldn’t do a thing to you.” Zyika nodded slightly but didn’t say a word more.
Of course I’ll teach her! Clumsy things can’t get around well anyways. And I don’t want a big bronze falling on me…I may get hurt! Imanith responded not really realizing she was talking to the whole table and not just the dragons. I am not that clumsy. Menorath huffed upsetly.
A’der looked at his sister, “Does she realize she’s talking to the whole table here?” He asked softly. “No..she could be talking to the whole Weyr for all we know.” Zyika shook her head as she talked. She couldn’t quite understand why she was the one bonded to the most talkative thing on earth, but she loved her dragon no mater what.
Zyika smiled slightly and nodded to Pala. “He does that.” She added with a shrug. “More of you fell.” A’der added with a chuckle. Zyika’s eyes went back to her brother confused. “And no Alyzin didn’t scare her.” A’der said before Zyika asked him. She shrugged and watched her dragon chatter even more.
Sleeping by a fire is nice, but why watch things? It’s much more fun to do things! Like tricks!! I can’t wait to fly and show off tricks! It will be ohh so much fun. Don’t you want to do fancy tricks and impress people?

"He's just cranky," Pala sighed at her bonded, "He seems to think that any moment he isn't sleeping is a moment wasted."
It is.
"I don't need anyone to teach me how to walk!" Pala covered her ears again as if to block the 'sounds' of her dragon's teasing and the Green picking up on the subject as if he were serious. In reality though she was blushing again and her ears were red, "Oh please tell me you're kidding about the Weyr thing... she wouldn't really be would she?"
Pala glared at A'der, ears still covered, "It was either me or the crate, and in the winter herbs are even more important. Actually if it hadn't been for Alyzin I would have walked right into you and probably WOULD have dropped the crate... and still would have fallen."
You watch so you may learn, if you learn then you can be prepared. Observation is best done in silence though, Kumath looked at the Green pointedly, I have no desire to impress people, I will do my duty and protect Mine. It will probably be a full time job. He practically grumbled the last part, but it was affectionate nonetheless.

Zyika nodded slightly, “It’s possible. She seems to talk to anyone and will try to be sure she’s heard.” A’der looked at his sister impressed by how she spoke a little bit longer this time then chuckled. “Anyone who would talk to her would make her happy.” He said talking about the little Green that had planted herself finally between the Bronze and Burgundy.
But why not learn some fancy tricks? Impress the other dragons? You really plan on no flirting little mate? The Greens tail was swishing back and forth hitting both the Bronze and Burgundy without really noticing.
Why does the Green not pay attention to me? The Bronze whined slightly. A’der chuckled, “Now Menorath is jealous.” He said with a slight shake of his head. “He’s complaining that Imanith isn’t paying attention to him.” Zyika looked over at her brother, “She doesn’t like Bronzes much. She finds them annoying.” Which was shocking since Imanith could be rather annoying at times herself.

Pala seemed to be stuck on the possibility that the entire Weyr could be hearing about how clumsy she was. It really didn't show a proper amount of competency in a Healer to be falling on a patient, not that she ever had but people tended to think that would be a likely outcome of her lack of balance. She looked around to see if anyone in the dining cavern had taken notice of their group.
Tricks are not meant to impress others, they are supposed to be for the purpose of dodging threads, something I fully intend to practice when they allow us. He ignored the mate comment, he was under no illusions to the fact that there were probably many others in the Weyr that the little Green would be happy to mate with. No sense in dwelling on possibilities now.
"I think Kumath would probably be far more trying as a mate than Menorath would be. Tolerance is not one of his stronger suits," Pala smiled at the Burgundy.
You don't know what kind of mate I'd be, I could be the best mate ever! To be fair, Kumath had no idea what kind of mate he'd be either, and as a female and his rider, Pala probably had a better grasp on it than he did.

Zyika closed her eyes as she listened to everyone talk. She heard a single chirp from Alyzin that made her look at the firelizard to make sure he was still in his spot. She really didn’t wish to deal with him today, especially since she rarely saw her brother much. And with him impressing a Bronze there was a chance she would see him less.
Fine. The green huffed slightly annoyed that the Burgundy was not much fun. Mine…can we go meet other people now with their dragons. Find another dragon that is much easier to talk to. This one is boring. Imanith complained to her rider. Zyika sighed, “My dear, relax for once.” Imanith huffed once more.
I will talk to you. Menorath said softly. Go talk to a Gold or Grey. Was all Imanith said. Mine, I find Imanith very rude. The Bronze complained to his own rider.
A’der sighed and looked at Pala, “Looks like our dragons all don’t get a long.” He joked lightly.

Pala also looked over at Alyzin, she really hoped he wouldn't try anything, couldn't he at least try to mend the bridge with Zyika? This was her first time meeting the girl and, from the looks of it, one of very few times A'der and Zyika could actually get together, "Are you hungry?" she didn't really think that was why he had chirped, but it seemed like a decent distraction.
Kumath laughed at the Green's frustration, closing his eyes again and enjoying the warmth of the fire. HE wasn't about to waste his time trying to impress anyone, His liked him the way he was and that was enough. He did feel a bit sorry for Menorath, the Bronze was nice enough... perhaps he should lay off on teasing him so much.
I'm sure you will have your pick of any mate you'd like once you're older Menorath. There are probably even plenty of Greens who'd like you.
Pala, for her part, was trying to change the subject, "So I hear Iroth is set to rise soon, and there are already some new Candidates! Soon there will be new Weyrlings and Hatchlings."
Are you ready for a mating flight?
What do you mean?
Kumath explained, and Pala's eyes widened in surprise, "What? Really? You mean..." There had to be a way around that....

A’der looked between the whole group, before he handed Pala some food since she wasn’t closest to Alyzin. “Do you mind?” He asked her feeling bad, but Alyzin was closer to her. His eyes flickered to his sister who shrugged slightly as if she was debating if she needed to leave or not
Mine, what are we going to do? I’m really really bored. “Sleep?” Zyika asked softly before she turned to the Green who was still laying in between the two other dragons. Letting out a huff but then settled down closing her eyes. “Finally…” Zyika said with a sigh. She closed her eyes once more and leaned against her brother obviously tired. “She never stops talking.”
A’der put his arm around his little sister then looked at Pala curiously. “What was that about?” He asked about her what? Really? Comment. His head was tilted to the side obvious he had not heard the mating flight comment.

Pala shook her head, taking the food, "He can't be any worse than having to feed a bedridden patient, probably more appreciative too." She frowned remembering her first years as an apprentice and the various food items she'd had thrown or spat at her, not many grown men were keen on the idea of being fed by someone their child's age. In Pala's opinion they acted more like children than she ever did but she had discreetly kept that thought to herself.
She turned her chair a bit so she was facing Alyzin and held out some food to him, hoping he'd be alright with her feeding him. She'd never really fed a firelizard before. She caught a glance of Zyika leaning against A'der and smiled, remembering again how much she missed her own sister. It was really too bad she couldn't stay longer... well she'd wanted to but their parents...
"Oh, ah... I was just saying Iroth was due to rise soon and Kumath was... explaining to me about mating flights. How do you know that stuff anyway you're just a baby!"
I am not! And it is currently on many rider's minds, therefore it is in their dragons, so it's a current topic of conversation. he broadcast his words to the other two as well.
"Oh well I guess that makes sense," for some reason she really didn't seem too embarrassed to be talking about such a thing. To her it was medical, psychological even, and if it was part of Weyr life then well she'd have to figure out something, "Isn't that a bit inconvenient for the weyrfolk who aren't participating?"
That would be why they make their plans now I imagine
"What about kids?"
I have no idea, I only know what I've heard from the other dragons, Kumath sighed, his was turning this into yet another research topic.

A'der smiled, "He loves food and sleep. His second love is pranks." He half shrugged since Zyika was still leaning on him. She frowned slightly as he spoke, "Not to mention biting people." She muttered as she looked at her hand that had bite marks on it. A'der just shook his head, "Well you're the one that wanted to try." That remark received a punch from his sister, Imanith was already to her feet.
Pounce? Imanith asked already in a crouch to pounce on A'der. "No...." But Zyika's comment was too late. A'der was on the ground with a Green right on top of him. Mine, I would suggest keeping your mouth shut. Menorath responded smugly. "Thanks for the help buddy." A'der muttered to his bronze.
A'der who was still on the ground moaned slightly, "Get her off me." "Imanith..." Zyika muttered as the Green got off looking quite proud of herself. Zyika looked over at Pala and frowned slightly. She didn't remember what they did when mating flights happened. "It effects the people with dragons the most, but I believe they will have some sort of arrangement made for us." Zyika said softly as if she was unsure.
A'der stayed down on the ground with Menorath peering down at him. Are you going to get up? "It's safer right here."

Pala's turned at Zyika's protest, just in time to see A'der hit the ground. Her eyes widened, now he'd done it. She couldn't help but laugh a bit as Imanith climbed off of her bonded's brother, "I 'm sorry... I shouldn't laugh but, after all the teasing of me being a kultz, at least I don't have dragons pouncing on me."
I could you know
"Yes but then you'd disturb Alyzin," she smiled, feeding the firelizard another bit of meat before turning to look at A'der again, this time more seriously, "Did you hurt anything?"
Pala nodded at Zyika's words, "That makes sense, many of the Weyrlings are still young and then I'm fairly certain many don't want their first time to be uncontrolled..." She frowned remembering patients.
She laughed again at A'der's words, "I think that just puts you at an easier level to attack... But then you wouldn't have to worry about falling so much... Much like what Menorath does I guess."

"Its alright, Imanith thinks he deserved that one I guess." Zyika said with a smirk as her brother did not move from the floor. What are you talking about. I know he deserved it. He said something to Mine that made her upset. And her upset is no fun! Imanith said out loud to the whole table once more without her realizing it.
"I didn't hurt anything. Just knocked the wind out of me." He chuckled from the ground still unsure if he wanted to move. Menorath was now standing looking down at his rider. Imanith was sitting close to him flicking her tail as if proud of herself for what she has done.
Zyika nodded, "It defiantly would not be fun." She shook her head slightly and closed her eyes. She most defiantly hoped that they would be out of the Weyr.
"Which is why I'm staying down." A'der said from the ground. Just because I'm clumsy doesn't mean thats a bad thing. Menorath spoke to even the other two that sat on the table.

"Well for all the time's he's made fun of me falling I would have to agree with her. Besides, she was only trying to protect you, it's sweet... in a bruising sort of way," he'd survive a few bruises probably, he was lucky he hadn't knocked his head around falling like that though...
She sighed, wiping her hands clean and setting down the bowl to walk over to check and make sure he was in fact fine. After all, he had helped her the first time they'd met and she should probably return the favor. Or, at least that was her intention except for her not noticing Menorath's tail until she she was falling forward. The toe of her boot had caught the Bronze's tail and tipped her off balance, right onto A'der.
Kumath sat up abruptly, nap forgotten, along with the firelizard on his head. He darted towards his rider, but was too far away to actually do anything to prevent the fall.
Her eyes widened as she somehow, with the automatic reaction of someone very used to falling, managed to turn to one side as not to fall directly on him. Unfortunately this also meant that her left shoulder would meet with most of the force from the fall...

A’der sat up to check on Pala, “You okay?” Zyika herself moved to check on the poor girl. Menorath flicked his tail, Sorry, I didn’t mean to! The big Bronze said to everyone here. Zyika looked at the bronze, “It’s not your fault.” But before she could pat the Bronze on the head Alyzin landed there not looking happy.
Zyika’s hand shot back as Imanith hopped over both A’der and Pala to get between the firelizard and Zyika. Zyika looked at Pala, “You may want a few walking lessons.” She held out her hand to help the girl up. A’der went into a crouching down stage, “Come on, let’s make sure you didn’t get hurt. That land didn’t sound too good.
Alyzin hissed slightly then flew off to the top of a cabinent to lay there as Imanith poked her head down. Mine is she okay? I hope she didn’t hurt anything. She needs to learn to watch where she is going. She could be a walking disaster just like the Bronze is.

Kumath reached Pala and nudged her with his nose as she rolled onto her back to look up at him, Mine! Are you alright? Your shoulder, you hurt it!
Pala reached up with her other hand to scratch at Kumath's eye ridge, "I'm fine. There will be a bruise for sure, but that's nothing new... As my mother always said, 'that girl bounces'" She hadn't heard a crack or a pop, but all the same she probably shouldn't hit that area again anytime soon. She tried it experimentally, it hurt, but she didn't feel any grating.
"It's fine Menorath, I should have watched where I was going. I didn't hurt your tail did I?"
The klutz tripped over the klutz...
"Good to see you're concerned still," she smiled affectionately at her dragon, obviously not actually mad at him.
She took Zyika's hand with her uninjured side, "Maybe... I'm not like this when I'm working though... or walking and reading... But if I'm just walking and nothing else... I wonder why that happens." She stood, Kumath sticking close to her but acting as if he was over the whole thing. She shook her head, "I can check my range of motion on my own, it smarts right now but I'm fine... probably shouldn't carry any shoulder packs anytime soon," she reached with the other hand and felt the area, nothing moved that shouldn't, and things that should move did, "Yep, fine. As clumsy as I am I've only manage to break one bone, and that... wasn't entirely my fault."
